What is “Competitive Analysis” in BlueOcean Track?

1 min read

Competitive analysis is crucial to understanding our paths to growth. Since our brands do not exist in a vacuum, even when we’re creating something that has never existed before, we’re still always competing for the attention of an audience.

Competitive Analysis within Track is a great starting point for assessing your performance out in the wild.

To get started, there are several variables you can control through filters at the top of the page.

  • Your brand – If you have access to view more than one brand, you can adjust which brand you’re viewing. In the example below, we’re evaluating our demo brand, TrueFunnel.
  • Competitive Set – The competitive set you select will adjust which group of competitors you’re scoring yourself against. You can create new competitive sets through settings.
  • Framework – The framework you choose determines the factors and metrics that calculate your score.  Early adopters can select from two unique frameworks, the standard BlueOcean framework and the BlueOcean Basic framework
  • Date range – Select a date range you’d like to evaluate or learn more about how BlueOcean displays data across time.

Once you’ve selected your filters, you can view “Performance” to see your scores across your chosen framework. You can also flip to “Scoreboard” to see the scores across your competitive set.

From here, you can explore your scores and dig deeper into the data behind them. Read on to learn more about your scores and the calculation frameworks available.
